The forgotten language of Odessa

The International Yiddish Center presents a new film about the "most Jewish" city of Ukraine, Odessa.

Together with the presenter Yitzhak Averbukh we trace the history of the Jews of Odessa and its transformation into one of the world's main centers of Jewish culture in all its genres. It was Odessa that played the most important role in the history of Jewish literature, education, press, theater, and, of course, it is the world capital of humor.

It was very important for us to emphasize that it was the Yiddish language that became one of the foundations of the so-called "Odessa language".

We wish the "pearl by the sea" Odessa, as well as all of Ukraine, peace and prosperity as soon as possible!
