Episode #7: "Chernowitz - a shtot mit yidn" (Chernivtsi is a city full of Jews)


The renowned linguistics scholar Professor Wolf Moskovich recalls his youth, which was spent in the special Jewish environment of the city of Chernivtsi, and the role that this city played in his later career.

His childhood in a religious family, his connection to his relatives who built Eretz Israel, his hometown Yiddish, and the 13 other languages spoken and lectured in the city. In the episode it is also said about Chernivtsi Jewish history, how the professor switched from home Yiddish to literary Yiddish, and features a very moving poem by the late Jewish activist in the USSR and Knesset deputy Yuri Stern.
