Episode #5: "Echoes of Yiddish Culture"

A conversation with Ruth Levin, singer, researcher, translator, broadcaster, and daughter of the renowned reader and composer Leibu Levin. In this episode we talk about her family history, her father's difficult life, and the life choices that connected Ruth to Yiddish culture.

Ruth frankly shares the connection with her dad, how her maternal grandmother saved him in the camp, how the spiral of his life later unfolded, and how her "Moscow Jew" mom fell in love with Yiddish through Ruth's dad. Also, Ruth recalled how an inner voice led her to music, which for her meant an extension of Daddy's life. After all, Ruth sang Daddy's songs in Yiddish.
