In this section we are paying tribute to the 60th Anniversary of the Yiddish literary and political magazine in the Soviet Union "Sovetish Heymland", that was created by Aron Vergelis on the ruins of Soviet Yiddish culture, silenced by Stalinist repressions in the 40s. The first issue of Yiddish magazine was published in July-August 1961. The last issue made it's appearance in 1991. The uniqueness of the phenomena of the magazine is in nurturing a new generation of young Yiddish writers and poets, who until this day continue their literary work.
