On December 27, 2017, at the Holocaust remembrance center "Yad Vashem" in Jerusalem, the WJC Yiddish Center academic director Dr. Mordechay Yushkovsky provided a lecture „Yiddish civilization as a treasury of the collective national memory" for a group of teachers from Latin America.

This event is the result of cooperation between "Yad Vashem" and WJC YC. 19 Jewish and non-Jewish educators came to Israel from Argentina, Columbia, Peru, Uruguay and Mexico to enhance their knowledge in the Yiddish culture and literature and about the Holocaust.

The lecture was in Hebrew with the simultaneous translation into Spanish. The participants are going to use the acquired knowledge in their practical work, so they requested Dr. Yushkovsky to elaborate bibliography of the relevant reading materials in their native Spanish language.
